Construction
Law
Over the years, Taylor Law Offices has handled
many construction contract disputes and other construction-related
cases. Problems may arise if a contractor or property owner fails
to fully examine or provide all the necessary bidding documents, such
as contracts, bulletins, plans, specifications, bidding addenda or
change orders. Without these documents, the scope of the project is
not fully known and a bid many not be accurate. In addition, records
of labor rates and union contracts must be kept current and accurate.
The firm also has experience in cases involving owner-architect agreements
and commercial construction contracts. Construction contracts may
be governed by two different principles. Contracts that primarily
involve the furnishing of labor, whether or not good are incidental,
are governed by Illinois common law. Transactions that are primarily
for the sale of goods, even if the seller installs them, are governed
by the Illinois Uniform Commercial Code.
